Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·

We work in some of the world's poorest places, where people suffer the effects of conflicts beyond their control. We are specialists in supporting communities that are remote, difficult to get to and difficult to work in. Put simply, we help children in places other charities just don't go.

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Running the London Marathon has been an ambition of mine since I caught the running bug a few years ago. This is the first time I'll be running this distance and I have already started a gruelling training regime along the streets and canals of Birmingham to set myself up for the challenge ahead.

I am privileged to be able to run it in aid of a charity I wholeheartedly believe in - Children in Crisis.

Having spent time working in a developing country, I understand the importance that charities like Children in Crisis have in transforming a nation's future. Their programmes build schools, educate local teachers and provide resources to facilitate learning in many post-conflict and conflict regions. Keeping children off the streets and empowering them with education plays a key role in giving them a voice to shape their future and break the cycle of poverty.

I'm sure many of you reading this would not be where you are today without the education you have received. A basic right that every child deserves.

Having supported the marathon runners in previous years I know how important it is to see a friendly face on the day, so please put the 21st April in your diary and come and soak up the atmosphere on the day. I'll need all the support I can get when my legs turn to jelly during those 26.2 miles!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Please dig deep and donate whatever you can to help me reach my target. I really do appreciate it.

Many thanks, Hardeep.
