Paris Marathon 2013 · 7 April 2013 ·

Music in Hospitals & Care Scotland aims to enhance the quality of life for people of all ages in hospitals, hospices, care homes, day centres and special schools in Scotland through the provision of live music performed by professional musicians. 1,657 concerts were given in Scotland last year.

Story

I never thought I'd attempt a marathon(!), but somehow (thanks to my lovely and exceptionally persuasive flatmate Carlyn and her Mum), I seem to be signed up for Paris 2013! Thanks you two.

I am fundraising for Music in Hospitals Scotland, who organise concerts in hospitals and care homes alike all over Scotland. I think that having things to look forward to you when you are poorly (no matter how poorly) can genuinely help people make mirculous recoveries. People love music, especially live music, and MiH Scotland helps to bring that to those who otherwise most definitely would not be able to listen to any concerts and perhaps do not even have anything to look forward to. That's why I think MiH really do make a difference.

I wanted to choose a Scottish charity, and MiH Scotland will put any money I raise towards various concerts throughout Scotland. I would love a concert to be held at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but they can be held anywhere in Scotland, and so if I manage to raise enough money for more than once concert (each concert is around £247), then I'd love any ideas for other hospitals/ places for concerts to be held.

Please please do let me know either on this page (or separately) if you have a particular hospital or care home that you would like a concert to be held at. I really really appreciate any money that you have donated and would love to make sure that it can go towards making a concert happen in a place that matters to you.

Lastly, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you so much to everybody who is reading this, I really appreciate all the support and MiH are delighted too.  I'll of course keep you updated with all my efforts, whether I manage the 26 miles 385 yards on 7 April 2013, and any concerts that I can make happen!
