Emerald Yorkshire Peak Challenge · 19 May 2017

Every 5 minutes, someone dies from heart diseases in the UK. We need to tackle this problem head on, and we need to start today. Your donations will fund lifesaving medical research to find new treatments and cures. We need your help, until there are no more deaths from heart diseases.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Emerald's Executive Chairman, Martin Fojt, was always a fit and healthy man and regularly exercised on Ilkley Moor before work. One morning in early 2014 he died from a sudden heart attack whilst he was walking his dog on the Moor. This year, Emerald Group  celebrates its 50th anniversary and the charity committee have decided to try and raise £50,000 for Heart Research UK.

The money raised this year will be going directly to a specific research project which is taking place in the UK. The project will be looking at developing a novel ECG-based test to measure the risk of sudden cardiac death, which is responsible for over 3 million deaths per year, worldwide. In order to raise the grand total of £50,000 a number of Emerald colleagues are walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. Please do support me in this challenge.
