DAY 5 UPDATE

Despite our best efforts, unfortunately today an injury to Huw’s ankle has forced us to call time on our adventure. It took a lot of time and deliberation to decide but in the end risking a long term injury would have been the wrong thing to do.

Huw will be making will be making his way home under more traditional forms of transport i.e. the train. Pete will be returning with him, he thought about going solo but unfortunately everything is packed for a two man effort and there is no way he could carry it all.

A massive thank you to everyone who has sent us messages along the way, there’s no describing how they made us feel. We are gutted to cutting the trip short but will no doubt finish the cycle in the future (the hard bit is done now anyway!).

We travelled an amazing amount of miles and have raised an outstanding amount for the Queen Alexander Hospital in Portsmouth and even though we haven’t completed our mission we are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in that respect.

Thank you again

Pete and Huw

On July 7th 2011 two young guys from Guildford in Surrey will be attempting to cycle from John O'Groats to Lands' End - in just eight days.

This Herculean endeavour is all about raising money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Queen Alexander Hospital in Portsmouth.

Earlier this year two very special boys Matthew and Harrison Graham were born at the Queen Alexander Hospital, Portsmouth. They arrived many weeks premature and under tragic circumstances Baby Harrison sadly passed away shortly after. Both myself and Huw will be cycling in memory of him.

Due to the vitally important work of the NICU, where both boys and their parents were so wonderfully looked after, we are aiming to raise funds - partly in thanks to them but also to ensure they continue to provide such wonderful support and care to parents and children in similar circumstances.
