Story
Hello Everyone
I hope you're all well.
I'm currently training to run the Bath half-marathon on Sunday 7th March with the other chap in the photo above. We've rather boringly decided not to run it in the outfits we wore to that particular party - one pink-latex-clad homosexual and one Zulu warrior- although it is something we're seriously considering if we manage to raise our target amounts.
I'm running for a great charity called Gua Africa which helps individuals, families and communities overcome the effects of ongoing war and poverty in southern Sudan, where constant fighting has negatively impacted the area and its people for decades. More than 2 million people have died, and more than 4 million have been internally displaced or have become refugees as a result. One direct consequence of such an extended period of war is that southern Sudan is now having to deal with a 'lost generation' who continue to lack educational opportunities and access to basic health care services, and thereby attain very few prospects for productive employment as they grow older. Gua Africa helps to educate these younger generations who have been affected, as well as focusing in particular on reintegrating former child soldiers back into society. The charity was created by former child soldier Emmanuel Jal, who grew up during the Sudanese civil war, and who, along with a fantastic team, has built an amazing organisation that helps thousands of people every year.
I know times are tight, but the recession's over (ahem!) and any amount donated, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks a lot
Harry
