As I am sure you all know Rambo passed away on the 27th of May from injuries sustained in whilst serving for the Royal Marines Armoured Support Group. Not a day goes by when I don't think of the happy times Rambo and I shared and the fun we had together! Whenever I think of Rambo I cannot help but smile, he lived for the moment and always made the best of every situation. He should inspire us all to live life to the full and I fully intend to try my hardest to make him proud! From the first time I met Rambo, I looked up to him with so much admiration and from day one he taught me so much about life – none of which I will ever forget! I was told the other day that if you are fortunate in life you’ll meet many people that you’ll be able to call friends, but they’ll only be five that you will be really able to call special friends. I know Rambo was one of those. He will always be my best friend, my hero, and will be with me in my thoughts for ever.
So to everyone who knew him and to those who didn’t, please give generously! I will also be organising some themed nights out to raise some extra funds!
The Route for the Snowdonia Marathon 2009:
From the start at Nant Peris (300ft) the route follows the A4086 and climbs to the top of the (Pen y Pass 1,100ft). It follows the A498 to Beddgelert (200ft) and there continues along the A4085 to Waunfawr. From here it is a rapid climb to about 1,200ft at Bwlch y Groes and then downhill to the finish in Llanberis.
It has been described as the toughest marathon in ! Although I know if I had told Rambo this, the first thing he would of said was that it’s nothing compared to passing out as a Royal Marine Commando!
So now everyone knows-training has started! If you see me drinking too much, eating unhealthy foods or generally doing anything that will hinder my training please get on my case! Lastly, for all of you that were out on Saturday night you’ll all be glad to hear I have plenty of running kit ;-)!!
