Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I would like to quickly tell you about the work Orchyd do and why I am fundraising for them.

Orchyd are a charity that provide free holidays for disabled children. Each year the team take 20 children from around the country and give them a much needed, free holiday. This is great fun for the kids, and is also a time of much needed rest for the parents. During the 10 day holiday they children will have different fun activites each day, some of these are camping, wildlife parks, the zoo, swimming, parties, etc.

Recently Orchyd have started day trips for the children. There are three trips throughout the year, one being in december when the children can go shopping and see santa.

I have chosen to take part in The Great Orchyd Bikeathon because the work this charity does for the children and their families provides a time for them all the rest from the difficulties of normal life. It helps the children grow in confidence and gives them the holiday of a lifetime.

The ride is held in Ruislip and organised by Orchyd. It takes place on the 23rd of June, starting at the Ruislip Manor Methodist Church. Cyclists can start anywhere between 8 and 10 in the morning and cycle as few or many laps as they want. Each lap is 15.22km or 9.46 miles.

So that I can raise as much money as possible I am doing my sponsorship slightly differently.

If £100 is raised I will cycle 5 laps, 76.1 km, 47.3 miles and burn around 3300 calories

If £200 is raised I will cycle 7 laps, 106.54 km, 66.22 miles and burn around 4500 calories.

If £300 is raised I will cycle 10 laps, 152.2 km, 94.6 miles and burn around 7000 calories.

And if £500 is raised I will cycle an extra 11th lap, but wearing a gorilla suit, totaling 167 km, 104.06 miles and probably burn 8000 calories! (I am all ears for better ideas on what to do if £500 is raised)
