Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Sometimes it takes a tragic event to prompt action.  This is what happened to the Partners at Hatchers following the fatal accident of Chris and Jean Wilson's younger son Alex on 6 November last year. Alex was just 19 years old.

All who attended Alex's funeral heard of his enthusiasm for life, commitment to sport and generous support to others and this inspired us "To do Something". This led to a decision to raise money for 2 charities close to so many hearts- Breakthrough Breast Cancer which Alex was a keen supporter of and also the Prostate Cancer Charity.

Over 2 weeks commencing on 25 April Hatchers are holding various fund raising events starting with "Round the Lake" a sponsored bike ride in legal themed fancy dress round Lake Vyrnwy and the surrounding countryside and then 2 weeks later Andrew Holland, Angie Manley, Jacinta Walmsley, Lyndsey Pollard, Margaret Rowe, Patrick Gittins, Richard and Angela Kerry and William Lamplugh are cycling the Coast to Coast challenge from Workington on the West coast, over the Pennines to and finishing at Tynemouth on the East coast - a very hilly 140 miles!

We plan to ride a cumulative total of 2,000 miles and raise £10 for every mile – a total of  £20,000 to be divided between the 2 charities.
