Story
Hi,
Lorraine here, thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
So, It is nearing the 20th Anniversary of our Mum, Hazel Currie, who lost her battle with Cancer in 1991. To celebrate the life of my Mum, who was really involved in charity events for Cancer, my sister Kelly-anne, great friend of the Family Susan Price (nee Dixon) and I are joining 12,000 people to take part in The Moon Walk in Edinburgh on the 19th of June 2010. As a team we are aiming to raise at least £2k. Beaverbrooks the Jewellers (Lorraine's Work) are kindly doubling whatever Lorraine raises as an individual.
***NEWS FLASH***
My Auntie Wendy and her 2 great Friends Lesley and Tracey are now joining the Hazel's Angels Group, below is my Auntie Wendy's Story...
I am quite excited that me and my two good friends Tracey Kennedy and Lesley Mincher are going to take part in the Edinburgh Half Moon Walk on the same night. When I found out that Hazel’s daughters were doing the walk in celebration of Hazel’s life, I was so proud and inspired. As you will realize this will be an exceptional challenge to Tracey, Lesley and myself as our fitness level and (my) shape does not compliment this event.. But let me tell you what the impact of losing my sister Hazel to breast cancer has had on my family. My mother’s life crumbled – no mother should lose a child. Kelly-Anne (11) and (7) lost the most important role-model in their life – no child should lose their mother. I lost my very best friend and my children will never know how great Auntie Hazel was. Hazel was the thread that kept our family together, she was fun-loving, happy, strong and kind – all attributes her daughters have inherited…I inherited her love for crisps and cake! The Moon Walk is a 26 mile power walk around (Half Moon is 13.1 miles) with a twist - we are Power Walking through the night and in our Bras (with other clothes of course). The aim of this walk is to raise as much money as we can for Breast Cancer Causes - each year in the just under 12,000 women and around 90 men die from Breast Cancer. - which is where you come in. So please dig deep and donate now, every penny makes a difference. Please give generously - although we lost Hazel, we all know of family and friends who are survivors of this horrid disease, we are also doing it for them. Thanks so much in advance of your generosity, Love, , Kelly-anne and Susan xxxxxxxxxxx Wish us luck, Wendy, Tracey and Lesley xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For more information on the Moon Walk please visit http://www.walkthewalk.org/Challenges/TheMoonWalkEdinburgh
