Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Sarah was born in July this year and immediately we were told that she had a degree of plagiocephaly or flat head syndrome as it’s commonly known as. The NHS describes this syndrome as 'cosmetic', but in Sarah's later years this 'cosmetic' problem can lead to problems such as incorrect jaw aliment, ear problems and (would you believe) possible bullying in her school years if its noticed by other kids. The NHS does not fund any corrective procedures for plagiocephaly. The only way to correct plagiocephaly is through a private clinic. The procedure involves the making of a cranial helmet that is worn by the baby for a number of months, and this helmet can in most cases, correct plagiocephaly. The cost for this treatment is typically around £2,000.
Headstart4Babies is a registered UK charity who raises awareness of plagiocephaly as well as funds for families on low incomes who can't raise the funds for the cost of private treatment. They have helped 1000s of families, and Shaneela and I would like to help this charity by raising money. If you can help, any amount would make a difference to a family who need this treatment for their baby. All money raised goes straight to the charity via Just Giving.
If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid is a tax relief available to UK registered charities. It enables us to claim the tax back for charities, adding an additional 25% to every eligible donation. Just tick the box stating you pay UK tax and Just Giving will do the rest.
