Story

To everyone who attended my 50th birthday celebration: thank you for coming and making my event very special

To those people who were unable to attend: lets meet up soon!

To all who have donated to the Leprosy Mission : I've really enjoyed this birthday present thank you - it has been fun watching the messages and donations coming in

To the teams that competed in the community singing: although the overall standard of singing was surprisingly high; I noticed some disgruntlement regarding the standard of judging so I have written a review for your attention (see below)

The competition was opened by 'The Winners' with a spirited version of Loch Lomond sung with plenty of attack with real emphasis on those Scottish consonants 8/10

'Jemisons plus' followed with On Ilkley Moor Ba' tat which sounded truly Yorkshire and was delivered with much gusto 8/10

'After 8's version of Danny Boy was very moving and they stormed into the lead 9/10

'The Winners' Climb Every Mountain, was initially a little lack-lustre however they pulled it back with some brave attempts at the high notes from Joanne and Lesley 7/10

'Jemisons plus' were not so hot singing Abide With Me however I gave them 7/10 for the scarves

'After 8' could have made more of I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside. It would have been nice to see some actions of the brass band playing. Harry Grahams descant in the final phrase was a little tentative and could have been improved with another 1/2 Yorkshire Terrier 8/10

'The Winners' then discarded their songsheets for a performance of Auld Lang Syne delivered with much sincerity and conviction 10/10

'Jemisons plus' did a lively interpretation of Knees Up Mother Brown- is this why Len felt a little poorly on the train going home? 10/10

When'After 8' all rose to sing Amazing Grace the writing was on the wall. They were truly amazing although the actions with the spectacles in the last line were not really called for 10/10

Overall it was really lovely being sung to!!!!!     Thanks again Heather x
