My Story
Whilst sitting in my lovely warm home listening to the pouring rain, drinking tea with my dogs by my side I began to read a leaflet which was pushed through my letterbox a day or two earlier. It was from the charity Crisis.
Crisis is an amazing charity that does not only supply the homeless with a free meal, but helps them get back on track in life. Eventually the charity even helps them find jobs and somewhere to live.
I have put my running shoes back on to run the London Marathon for the homeless. It’s going to be a massive challenge because I haven’t run a marathon in six years. However, this challenge will be nothing compared to what the homeless face every day and night, they have nothing to keep them warm and no one to support them.
Within that leaflet was a story of a young man, just fifteen years of age, who had left his home after being repeatedly beaten by his father. The streets of London became his home because the treatment he received was so bad that he chose to sacrifice a roof over his head and a warm bed. He is just one of many.
So please take a look at the Crisis website-http://www.crisis.org.uk/- to see the wonderful work they do. All I ask is that you sponsor me as generously as you can so I can donate it to this charity and help thousands of homeless people across the UK. I am hoping to raise £5,000 for the charity so please dig deep for this outstanding charity. Thank you, Heather.
