My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I will be doing a tandem skydive at Dunkeswell airfield in Devon on Saturday 27th August to raise money for an amazing charity, CHICKS.  I will be covering the costs of the skydive myself, so all donations will go directly to the charity.  Read on to find out more....

CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) is a children's charity that provides life enhancing six day respite breaks to disadvantaged children from across the UK at one of their retreats in Devon or Cornwall.

During their six-day break children receive as much care, attention and support as possible, enjoying a wealth of experiences from pony trekking and rock climbing, to building sand castles and flying kites. CHICKS want the children to learn that fun does not have to be expensive, so a lot of time is spent playing team games, reading books, drawing and doing puzzles. In 2010, just over 1,100 children enjoyed a break with CHICKS.  The demand for respite care has grown and the charity live by their own signature giving children the Gift of Hope, teaching children that they can achieve anything and reach what may seem like impossible goals.

Having recently volunteered on camp and seen first hand the huge difference that these breaks make to the young people that take part, I wanted to do something that would raise funds for this great cause and be a massive personal challenge.... so a tandem skydive it is!  Whilst on camp it took a LOT of persuading by the kids to get me to go down a 10 ft drop slide at a local theme park, heights not being one of my favourite things in the world!  But I did it, and I will also do this skydive from 15,000 ft above the Devon countryside, which I'm not going to lie, may well scare me half to death!! Any donations and support you can give me will help disadvantaged young people have a break that they would not otherwise have, so please dig deep!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you :)
