My story

Hi guys, thanks for visiting our JustGiving page.

So as many of you already know, my pops is a long standing member of the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team! The Team relies completely on donations to stay operational and provide the equipment needed to conduct rescues and training.

Many people don't realise that the team are there for everyone and not just 'mountaineers'. The Team have helped families on lowland walks, farmers, horse riders, missing persons, lost school children, scouts, guides, cyclists, people in places the Ambulance service cannot reach and even a snowed in meals on wheels service!

So in order to raise money (and because we are crazy cats), we have decided to run the Manchester Marathon ... i'd like to make a side note here and mention that for the final six weeks of training I have given up alcohol ... as in, I am not drinking any alcohol for six weeks!!! ... now you don't even need to know me all that well to recognise the real bloody challenge here, that's worth a fiver in itself guys without the gruelling 26.2 miles at the end of it all!

We've been training really, really hard for the event at the end of April but we are still very much cacking ourselves about the limited amount of time we have left before the big day is upon us, so any donations we receive will spur us on and help us to clock up those extra miles every week!!
