Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page... This is our story so far. xx
We almost lost Joshua when I suffered a threatened miscarriage at nine weeks, thankfully it somehow stopped and our little heart warrior proved to be a special little fighter right from the start! At 20 weeks we had the diagnosis confirmed... Joshua was born by emergency c section 5 weeks early with Congenitally Corrected Transposition Of The Great Arteries (CCTGA) and a large hole in the heart (VSD). He was taken straight to the NICU and was then diagnosed with complete heart block. At 3 weeks old Joshua had his 1st heart surgery to do a PA Banding and had his pacemaker implanted. We are now waiting for news of his next surgery which will be complex open heart surgery and carries significant risk. Because of this, they are currently waiting for Joshua to grow and gain weight which he is now doing quite well. CCTGA is a very complex and very rare defect which makes up only 0.5 - 1% of all congenital heart defects!
This is why we are fundraising for Families Of Ocean Ward! While Joshua has been in and out of the unit, all staff and the other parents have been absolutely amazing and so supportive to us all. The charity is run by a few parents and they do fantastic work with the funds raised like supplying medical equipment for use both in and out of hospital, giving hardship grants for costs of hospital stays, organising free trips, parties and buying new play equipment too. All these things help the heart children cope with their heart defects just that little bit easier.... But they do cost money so this is your chance to help make these wonderful little heart warriors smile!
