My story

 

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Heidi, I am 35 & a BRCA 1 gene mutation carrier.

This means I have a 85% chance of contracting breast cancer & a 60% chance of contracting ovarian cancer at some point in my life.

I have 2 children, my daughter Mya who is 2 & my son Hayden who is 9 months.  My children have a 50% chance of also being carriers of this gene mutation.

Next year I will be having risk reducing surgery, a double masectomy with reconstruction and my ovaries removed.

Due to this I am trying to raise awareness & money so that a cure can be found to stop future generations having to make the same decisions I have.
