Story
A few years ago the idea of running even 5k seemed impossible to me but I run regularly now and love it. To run the London Marathon was a challenge that I always believed was beyond me, especially at my age! But now I have decided it is time to push myself to my limit and have secured a place through the Lily Foundation. Unfortunately the last year has not been kind to me. I injured my knee and had to pull out of the 2017 London Marathon which was devastating for me. I have spent every month since then doing everything I can to resolve the injury. It has been a slow, hard slog, and mentally draining, but I feel like I have finally turned a corner and can make a second attempt to run this. This will not be easy but I am determined to make it to the start (and finishing!) line this time.
I have supported the Lily Foundation for a long time now which was founded by friends after the tragic loss of their 8 month old daughter to Mitochondrial disease. It is an amazing charity that helps so many families affected by this disease (details below). Please please please sponsor me for this huge challenge. No donation is too small. All donations will be massively appreciated.
The Lily Foundation was founded in Lily's memory, having lost her battle to Mitochondrial Disease at just eight months old. The charity aims to give hope, answers and support to the many other children and families that face the challenges of this disease today.Did you know every twenty minutes a child is born who will develop Mitochondrial Disease by the age of 16! There is no cure for this disease which is for many, debilitating and life limiting. Please stand with us and fight Mitochondrial Disease and fight for hope.
