Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 16th September 2012 I am taking part in the Henley Challenge Ironman Triathlon to raise money for Spurgeons Academy in Kibera slum, Kenya. It is the school that I take teams out to each year with CRED, and it is a truly amazing place that provides top-quality education as well as hope, security, food and love to some of the poorest and most vulnerable orphans and other marginalised children in the slum. The school desperately needs a rebuild, as the weather has taken its toll on the wood and corrugated metal structures, and the money I raise will go towards that project, to ensure that the school remains viable and open, and so allow many more children to receive the opportunity of education and therefore more of a chance of being able to work their way out of poverty.

The Triathlon involves 2.4mile swim in the river Thames, then 112mile bike ride, and then a 26.2mile run, all in less than 16 hours. It is going to be far and away the hardest thing I have ever done, but if I can raise money to help improve the lives of all those Kibera children, then every bit of pain will be worth it.
