Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Chase is 6 years old and has cerebral palsy.

Chase was born 15 weeks early and weighed just 1lb 8oz.  She spent 14 weeks in hospital before she finally came home.  When she was 2 years old she wasn't reaching certain milestones and we were then told she had cerebral palsy.

Her condition means that she walks on her toes, has stiffness in her legs, has poor balance and coordination, tires easily and often falls over. She wears splints on her legs every day and has to do physio each day to ensure her muscles are stretched.  Despite this she is a very happy, sociable little girl who is very determined.  She loves horse riding, swimming and playing tennis and is very active.

Chase has had botox 3 times and each time it has become less effective.  Our worry is that over time Chase's mobility could deteriorate and she could become less mobile which would have a huge impact on her life as she is a very active little girl.

We have been researching into a procedure called SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) which has now become available in the UK at the Frenchay Hospital in Bristol but unfortunately it is not being funded by the NHS in Wales.   This operation would benefit Chase as it would reduce the spasticity in her legs and improve her balance and coordination.
