The Royal Park's Half Marathon · 7 October 2012

Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It's been two years since I took on the challenge of the London Marathon and rasied a massive £670.00 for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity. It was a fantastic feeling to not only cross the finishing line in one piece, but to also have made such an amazing contribution to the work that Nordoff Robbins do.

And now, two years later I am dusting off the running shoes, getting rid of the cobwebs and I'm going for half the distance, but double the challenge. Because this time I have a time I want to beat as well. The last time I ran a half marathon I ran 2hours 17 minutes on  very cold and windy morning in March, at Silverstone. This time, I want as close to 2hours 10mins (ten minute miles) as is physically possible.

And so, with a little over four months to go, cue the montage of training videos. Ha ha. I've already begun with some light runs to break in the old legs and I'm going to increase gradually over the next months until I am somewhere near my previous fitness levels.

I had so much support last time and I am so grateful for that. I even had friends willing to give up their free time to help me train, even on Christmas Eve when calf deep in snow (Yes Claire, I'll never forget that). You all believed I could do it, even when I didn't and my Marathon debut inspired two of my other friends to take up the challenge. So only good can come of this. (As long as my knees hold out.)

So please, if you feel you can make a donation, no matter how big or small, it would be absolutely fantabulous and like last time, I will probably end up baking for the two weeks following, as thank yous to everyone. (Though don't hold me to that.)

Cue the bit that I didn't write:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks guys and please come and watch as well. If our Autumn is anything like last year, it should be a fabulous day!
