Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm well aware that you may have already sponsored Richard on his epic ride (www.richardrideseurope.com), but to do my bit as well, I have taken up running and am going to have a go at running the Edinburgh 10k on 2nd May 2010.

I'm also raising money for the Cancer Treatment and Research Trust to help fund research into Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD).  In April 2006, I was diagnosed with GTD, a rare type of cancer which meant that, not only did I have to cope with the loss of what would have been my first child, but I also went through 9 months of chemotherapy and 3 operations, the last of which being a hysterectomy, leaving me unable to ever have children of my own.

I'm incredibly grateful to all the staff at Charing Cross Hospital who saved my life, in particular Dr. Philip Savage, my consultant, Linda Dyall, the Clinical Nurse Specialist, who has the patience of a saint and all the team in the Mole Office, who put up with my endless weekly phone calls to find out if my hormone levels had dropped enough to stop treatment.  Without these amazing people, I wouldn't be here today.

I hope my husband and I can raise enough money to make an impact on the research into this disease to prevent other people from going through this.

Thank you for reading my story and donating whatever you can afford.
