<p>Hello!</p>
<p>My name is Helen Short and I am a British, community-based, optometrist(optician) working in Hampshire.</p>
<p>I am going to Ethiopia from 14th-28th May 2011 with Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) to work at the Vision Centre they set up nine years ago at the GTM hospital in Butajira. I shall be working alongside Ethiopian optometrists in the Vision Centre carrying out eye exams and also doing outreach clinics in local villages. VAO have trained local people not only to refract (test eyes) but to manufacture spectacles too, and I shall be checking they have all the supplies they need to continue this vital work.</p>
<p>I personally have to pay £750 to be part of this project but this is only half of the full cost. Please will you help to match my contribution and thereby enable more people to see?</p>
