Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I don't normally do this - it has never felt quite right to ask for money just for doing something that I love doing. I thought it would be a good idea to set myself a slightly bigger challenge to justify asking for sponsorship. So this year I will be running two marathons, one week apart from each other (Manchester - 6th April and London - 13th April).
I have been inspired by Barry Thompson, who has set himself the challenge of finding 150 runners to run Manchester Marathon, each pledging to raise at least £150 to help build a special room at the new Young Oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital. Here teenagers and young adults undergoing cancer treatment can stay in a safe environment and an extra bed is provided for a family member to stay with them. Most of us know someone who has received treatment from The Christie and I have had personal experience of the fantastic care that they provide. With your help, this is an opportunity to give something back to them. It's great to be given the chance to join Barry's team and play a small part in raising money for such a worthwhile cause.
