Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.
The Network Rail Merseyside Athletics Department was bored with doing run of the mill triathlons and long distance runs so we decided to push ourselves this time.
Fuelled by Stella Artois one Friday night, our leader (Phil) decided that taking part in the Hellrunner event in Delamere Forest would be a good idea. Running through mud. Over a 12 mile course. Up big hills. Down big slopes. Wading through lakes. IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!
He is clearly stupid, but not quite as stupid as the other 3 of us who agreed to go along with it - and we hadn't been drinking Stella (or any other strong lager) at the time of agreeing to do it.
Training has been interesting to say the least - running through sand dunes, hurdling dogs, being tackled at full speed by brambles. It all adds up to a lot of pain and misery.
Mark, as ever, has been enjoying pushing himself to the limit and is raring to go on the day of the (fast approaching) race. Phil is living in the land of blissful ignorance and refuses to acknowledge that he hasn't done enough training and is likely to need an air ambulance to get him home. Justin has been his normal positive self and regularly cheers us up with comments like "forget it, I'll lose me 30 quid entry fee", "there's no way I'm wearing those pink shorts" (oh yes, you are!). And then there's Our Chris who has spent every day of the six weeks training period in the pub. Ok, he works in them - but that's not the point.
Anyway, all four of us will be at the start line at 10.30 on Saturday 3rd November and it'll help us get through the race if we know we're doing it for a good cause. Please give what you can to a great charity.
Thanks a lot
Phil, Mark, Justin, Chris
