SMA is a genetic disease that affects motor neurones. 1:40 of us is a carrier and in its most severe form children rarely live beyond 2 – making SMA the leading genetic cause of death in babies and toddlers. The SMA Trust is solely dedicated to funding research into a cure and treatments for SMA

Story

On Sunday 13 May 2012 I am doing the Wilmslow Triathlon. In the process of the swim/cycle and run I am raising money for the SMA trust.

This will provide resources to enable vital research into the presently incurable childhood disease spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). This condition has been brought to our attention after our family friend David Dee was diagnosed with it. SMA is a devastating condition that affects 1 in 6,000 children. Children are unable to sit up, crawl or walk. At present there is no cure.

However, the scientists are making significant advancements. They know the specific gene affected and are running clinical trials. The SMA Trust is dedicated to finding a cure for SMA. So please dig deep and donate now to help these children!

Best Wishes, Henri
