Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
WE DID IT!!!
Our challenge began on Friday 8th July at 1pm when we set off from North London to Ben Nevis in Fort William, Scotland. A trip that took us THIRTEEN HOURS battling traffic jams and a painfully speed limited mini-van!!!
Two hours sleep and then we set off on our first climb, Ben Nevis which we completed in 4 hours and 15 minutes.
A quick pasta lunch by the side of the road and we were on the road again to Scarfell Pike. Six hours later we started climbing Scarfell, took the more direct but tougher route to the summit, and completed the ascent and descent right on four hours.
Hit the road again driving at night, and arrived at Mount Snowdon around two in the morning. By this stage fatigue was really setting in and climbing at night without sleep when your body is telling you you should be in bed was hard work. We were all flagging and had wobbly legs and it took a great effort to pick up the pace and ensure we were under the 24 hour mark. The last 150 metres to the summit of Snowdon were the toughest of all!!!
Our team rallied together and we just made it in the time of 23 hours and 41 minutes!!!
So for the entire weekend we spent 48 hours covering 2560 kilometres of driving, 4300 metres ascending and descending, and over 40 kilometres of hiking, and less then 4 hours sleep!!!
So a big thank you to all of you who have donated to this great cause, and a thank you in anticipation if you are yet to donate.
Until the next challenge,
Herbert
