This year marks the seventh Peterborough Heritage Festival and this years’ historical extravaganza will be the biggest and boldest yet! We have something extraordinary lined up for the thousands of visitors that attend the event, which will not only be a first for Peterborough, but will be something that has not happened in England for several centuries.
On June 20th and 21st we will be holding the first town-centre Medieval Jousting tournament in England since 1467. Yes, you read that correctly, a Jousting Tournament! There will be horses, knights in shining armour, the clash of lances, favours and prizes, galloping and cheering. It will be amazing!
Last year over 30,000 people came to the festival over the two days and enjoyed the re-enactors, stalls, tours, speakers, and fringe events which make Peterborough’s history come to life. Perkins Engines Limited are generously sponsoring the Heritage Festival for the next three years, which guarantees its future in these austere times, but in order to fulfil the programme and spectacle as we would like, for the first time ever we are asking people to contribute to the festival.
We are looking for a minimum of £7,500 to ensure that this years’ Heritage Festival is not only the biggest and best so far, but also becomes fully sustainable in its own right.
So please help, do take the time to have a look at what we can offer you in return for a donation, and we’ll see you at the tournament!

£50 -You will receive two tickets for a private tour of the Knights’ encampment and to meet their horses in the palace gardens, and will be named as a supporter in our festival brochure (MAX 19)
£100 -Two tickets for a private tour of the Knights’ encampment and to meet their horses in the palace gardens and two tickets to see David Starkey, and a goodybag (MAX 20)
£250 -Two tickets for a private tour of the Knights’ encampment and to meet their horses in the palace gardens, two tickets to see David Starkey, two tickets to the VIP drinks reception, and two books signed by David Starkey. (MAX 10)
£500 -You will award a prize at the joust, a Knight will carry your favour into the joust, you will also receive four tickets to meet the knights and their horses in the palace gardens, four tickets to David Starkey, four tickets to the VIP drinks reception, and two books signed by David Starkey.
