Story
Paul Brannan & Michael Hayton have organised the sponsored walk this year from Kessock Bridge in Inverness to Fort William. This event will start at 08:00hrs, from Kessock Bridge on the 28th July 2014, we will be arriving in Fort William sometime on the 2nd August 2014.
Most of the people during this walk will be wearing clan kilts no matter what the weather, we will have 5 nights sleeping in tents during the walk.
We are doing this walk and others walks in the near future to raise funds for all the gulf war veterans and their families. The reason for this is when military personnel come home from war a war; it is not over for them.
People read about the war in newspapers and watch the news on television about what is happening, but unless you have been there and taken part in what the military personnel do, it is very difficult to understand properly.
Many military personnel come back from a war injured either mentally or physically. Some soldiers come back and seem fine for a few years, then slowly start to feel the effects of the drugs they were given to help protect them from the chemicals that were used against them during the war.
A lot of these military personnel have lost limbs, lost eye-sight, lost the strength in their bodies and now need to be in wheelchairs, but it is not just the soldiers that have to deal with these problems, their families are also affected. As the families have a difficult time, dealing with the effects that, the war has had on their partners, as well as young children trying to understand.
