Story
I've recently become a trustee to a wonderful primary and nursery school in Kenya called Loldia. I've managed to cajole 7 runners to run the Royal Parks half marathon with me - and we are all aiming to raising £500 each.
Unlike my other marathon endeavors, I promise to make it over the line before it gets dark and before the race organisers start taking the banners down!!
I can guarantee that every penny you donate will be directly spent on improving the lives of the children.
There are now approximately 1300 children between the ages of 6 and 17 attending Loldia Primary School. The numbers at the school have doubled in the past four years following the introduction of free primary education by the Kenyan Government in 2003. Unfortunately this laudable action has not been accompanied by an increase in resources leaving many schools such as Loldia struggling to cope.
The rural location of the school means the vast majority of the pupils’ parents work on local farms or as subsistence farmers with very little income.
We can only undertake projects to improve standards at the
school as and when funds are available but during the last few years, supporters donations have helped build a new toilet block; provided text books, teaching equipment and adult literacy classes.
For more information on the work we do, please visit: www.loldiaschoolfund.org.uk.
The school needs everything from sticks of chalk to new classrooms and teacher accommodation – any size of donation makes a world of difference.
On behalf of Loldia School, thank you!
