Hi everyone!

Did you know that 1 in 100 people have Epilepsy and a third of these people have seizures that cannot be controlled by medication?

I have met representatives from the incredible charity, Epilepsy Society, and have been moved by the difficulty of those who suffer from it and the commitment of those who care for them and because of this, as one of a team of students from Loughborough University, I am taking on the challenge of trekking along the 26 mile long INCA Trail towards Machu Picchu reaching altitudes of 4200 metres with the aim to hopefully raise over £80,000. I have the opportunity of visiting the research and assessment centre in December to see what their work involves, how it benefits sufferers and where our fundraising really goes. This is such a great cause and one that is close to my and many of the student’s hearts and we are keen to raise money and awareness of such a great charity so that it is able to grow to help even more people in need.

My main aim is to help towards researching and caring for those with the horrible neurological disease and with just my target of £3000, it would allow the charity to run a research laboratory for four weeks or could answer over 100 helpline calls.

I head off to Peru on the 6^th August 2015 for 2 weeks and need all the motivation and support possible in order to achieve my goal of spreading awareness for the charity.
