Holly's Classic Quarter 2011 · 25 June 2011
So Milly Durrant called me up a few weeks ago, to tell me about her sister Nad's crazy partner Tom, who thought it would be a fun challenge to run the Classic Quarter, 44 miles of rugged coastal terrain, from Lizard Point to Lands End, on the hottest day of the summer 2011. No idea quite how or why I agreed to this ridiculous challenge, but our fabulous team of four (Meet the team) are going to give it our best shot.
I will be running the first leg of the run, 6am kickoff (joy!), so will be waking up bleary-eyed at 3am to munch on oats, and then acting as the pace-setter for the challenge.
With 10 miles of rugged coastal terrain and nearly 1000 metres climbing up and down, this will be the biggest running challenge I have ever set myself - it's going to be horrendous! Plus it will be in the height of summer, so imagine it could get a little bit warm to boot!
We're doing this race, not just to challenge our limits, but to raise as much money as we can for a really worthy charity, local to the running route; Cornwall Hospice Care. It is tough times financially for everyone at the moment, but you can be sure that if it is tough for us it is going to be even tougher for those with life threatening illnesses so even if it is just a few pennies, every little bit counts.
Thank you for reading this... please donate whatever pennies you can afford xxx
