Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October 2008, my Dad, Stuart Walker, was admitted to the Horsley ITU at the Walton Centre near Liverpool following a sudden illness which left him requiring emergency brain surgery. The Walton Centre is the UK’s only dedicated centre for neurology and neurosurgery and comprises a team of dedicated neuro-specialists. Throughout his stay the level of care was excellent, as was the support given to family and friends. Thankfully, due to the hard work and excellent skills of the staff, my Dad has made a full recovery.
I feel it is important to give something back and to try and support the wonderful work done at the hospital. I had hoped to run the Great North Run in September in order to raise funds for the Horsley Unit, but unfortunately I am no longer able to do so. Fortunately, my best friend, Kathryn Rennie has offered to run on my behalf and to raise funds for the Walton Centre, as she too witnessed first hand the excellent service and care provided.
We are specifically raising money for the Horsley ITU to support their excellent work and to help continue the invaluable space in the family room which became our home for a couple of difficult weeks. I hope you will be able to spare a pound or two to help support this fantastic hospital in the hope that they can save someone else's life the way they saved my Dad's.
