My name is Kate and I am a GP working in rural Northumberland.

Tynedale Hospice at Home (THH) have number 1000 in the Great North Run. My son is taking number 1000 in the Junior Great North Run. We are running to promote the HOT 1000

I am 51 years old and in 2009 my life changed in an instant. My husband Geoffrey and daughter Victoria died in an accident at Kielder Water. Tynedale Hospice at Home provided Bereavement Support for both me and for my son. This is just one of the many valuable services that THH provides.

In 2011 I returned to work. This year my goal was to concentrate on my own health and fitness. I read about the search for a "special person" to take the number 1000 in the Great North Run to promote Tynedale Hospice at Homes Hot 1000 appeal. I knew immediately that that person was me! I have got the number and now I am really looking forward to the challenge!
