Tilly’s Testimonial by Amelia Richardson, family friend of Paul.
“Our daughter Tilly was first diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis when she was just over 3. We first noticed a swollen knee and she was complaining of her legs hurting when she woke up. The last thing I thought when I took her to the G.P was that they would say it was Arthritis, I think it's a disease that most people would associate with old people. But since learning more we have found out it affects 15,000 children in the UK. It is something that can affect any joints, Tilly’s mainly affects her knees, ankles and toes. For a child it can be very difficult to understand, she is often stiff and her joints swollen and painful, it can affect her mood greatly if she's in pain, just like grown ups! We have had fantastic care and support from the team at West Suffolk Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich. The future is not clear for Tilly, our hope is that she'll grow out of it, but all we can do is manage it and give her all the support we can.
Arthritis Research UK are continuing to research into new ways of combating the disease, but rely purely on donations as they have no government funding.
As a family, we are touched by the generosity of Paul and David for putting themselves through this tough challenge with Tilly in mind.”
