Story
We are climbing the three peaks - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon - in 24 hours to raise money for a small branch of the Sense charity called the 'Get Out There' or 'GOT' group.
The GOT group is based in Cornwall and aims to provide activities and social opportunities for young people with little or no sight and varying degrees of hearing loss. The group gives access to a wide range of activities which have so far included theme park visits, train rides, discos, surfing, ice skating, horse riding, power boating and drama to name just a few! These are decided upon by the young people who are very much in charge of their group.
Having volunteered with GOT since it started three years ago I have seen the confidence it has given these young people, the support they have needed to gain their independece and the opportunity to socialise and make friends with others.
We hope that by raising money for the group these activities will be able to continue and it will help support the expansion of other GOT groups which will provide similar opportunities for children, young people and adults with sight and hearing impairments.
