Story

Well the deed is done. I had predicted rain, wind, occasional sun and lots of midges in Scotland and that's pretty much how it turned out. Happily all went to plan, starting and finishing on schedule, 970 miles in total starting at 12 noon on 2nd August and finishing before 1pm on August 10th. Lots of hills along the way, only one puncture and a daily calorie intake that had an extra nought on from my normal.

I had hoped to hang on to the wheel of James Cracknell and Rebecca Romero (we saw their support vehicle at Lands End ) but they went a different route and as it turns out had to abandon their attempt. Talking of support I could not have done this without Mary who was expert at guiding me in towns and junctions and kept me supplied with food, water and encouragement.

All in all a great experience.

If you would like to add to the total raised so far for the Church Army I know that would be a great enouragement to them in the brilliant work they do.Check out their web pages for more details.

Thanks all.
