Story
Hello, and welcome to my just giving page, which I’m hoping to use to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s society.
In July 2016 I have decided to relive part of my youth by embarking on an epic cycling challenge, which will see me in the saddle for a total of four days.
I'll be cycling approximately one hundred miles each day on a journey which will see me travel from London to the white cliffs of Dover, before setting sail for France. I’ll be spending another three more gruelling days making my way through picturesque French countryside. The journey will culminate in cycling down the Champs Elysées, arguably the most famous street in Paris and we'll arrive the day before the epic finale of the Tour de France.
I’ve always been a keen cyclist and enjoy long rides in the open country, but without doubt, this will be my biggest challenge for at least thirty years and I’ve got a funny feeling that I'm going to suffer!
So why am I putting myself through all this pain? I’ve decided to take part in the challenge in memory of father who passed away in June 2015. He suffered from Alzheimer’s during his later years and I wanted to help raise money to help fund research into this incurable disease.
I’m under no illusions, it’s going to be a tough challenge. I’ve already started my training which has been progressing well and with your help, I’m hoping to raise £1500 for the charity.
I do hope that you can support my efforts. For those you who also enjoy cycling, I'll be posting a few stories on my website in the run-up to the race, which can be found here: http://www.howardlock.co.uk/news
Thanks for reading,I hope you can support me!
Howard.
