Ataxia UK - Big Bad Bike Ride 2010 · 11 September 2010 ·

10,500 people in the UK have ataxia which is a progressive neurological condition that disrupts the messages sent from our brains to our muscles that are used to move, speak, listen and see. Ataxia UK funds research into finding treatments and a cure and provide support until they are found.

Story

Hurray I did it! As if you ever doubted that I could! Yes 160 intrepid cyclists completed the Big Bad Bike Ride on 11 th September around a beautiful scenic course in the highlands of Scotland, although I have to say I did not have much time to enjoy the view.

I only fell off once and managed a time of about five and a half hours.

Can I say how overwhelmed I have been by the incredible generosity of all those who have sponsored me. I was originally hoping to raise around £1000 but as donations began to come in eventualy set a target of £2000. At the time of writing we are very nearly at £4000 with more to come in. This is absolutely brilliant and a huge THANK YOU because every penny (plus giftaid) will go into research to find a cure for Friedreichs Ataxia.

Our two children Jade and Harry suffer from the illness and  if you wanted to more about it then visit www.ataxia.org.uk
