What Is It For?

In February 2010 I will be taking part in a 10 week Raleigh International expedition to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I need to raise a total of £2795 in order to fund this. Whilst I have been busy earning money in various ways I think there will still be a shortfall so I would be extremely grateful for any donations. Thank you! Hugo

Where will your money go?

Donations will go towards community and environmental projects that I will be helping with in Costa Rica and Nicaragua (both LEDCs in Central America). This will be done in conjunction with the charity Raleigh International: http://www.raleighinternational.org/

   Community Projects: - these will take place in 'the heart of some of the most remote and poorest areas in Costa Rica and Nicaragua', and will 'provide basic facilities such as clean water and schools'. Therefore this will improve the quality of life of the community and provide sustainable valuable resources.

   Environmental Projects: - these will help to maintain and improve Costa Rica's National Parks. Therefore this is vital in preserving habitats and natural resources as well as protecting important species of plants and animals. For example, recent environmental projects have involved turtle conservation which will ensure the future of turtle hatchlings.
