I hate running.
Every morning when I walk to the train to work, a man runs past me, shoulders back, not a trace of sweat, equipped with a smug grin that tells me that he's enjoying running far too much.
That's not me. Running is a pain that has to be endured in order to play the occasional casual game of footie or cricket (perhaps even croccer).
Why am I running a 10k in London in the middle of summer then?
Well, I'm running to raise donations for Kidscape. Kidscape 'is the first charity in the UK established specifically to prevent bullying and child sexual abuse' (from their website) and do fantastic work with children, parents and schools to prevent bullying, and help bullied children deal with their situations (from me).
Kidscape don't necessarily make all the headlines that other charities get, but their work is vital, value for money and depends on people like you and me to keep their work going.
Kidscape is 25 years old this year, just like me. Keep me running* with whatever donation you can gladly give, and keep them running for another 25 years.
* One of my sisters ran for Kidscape a while ago. I face the serious prospect of the embarrassment of getting a worse time than her. Only a sizable donation to Kidscape will console me in such an eventuality.
