<p>"Prostate cancer is curable while it is confined to the prostate, but very difficult to treat once it spreads outside the prostate. The main treatment for prostate cancer that has spread, hormone therapy, was introduced in the 1940s. Consequently there has been little improvement in the survival of men with metastatic prostate cancer for over 50 years and why we want to develop new treatments. By identifying the changes that make prostate cancer cells grow and spread to other parts of the body, we aim to improve management, develop new treatment and increase the survival of men with prostate cancer."</p>
