Welcome to the Justgiving page for IMG Media’s major fundraising effort to finance the complete development and building of a school in Uganda, plus ‘cluster’ sport funding for a community of five schools in the region.
Working with our chosen charity - Build Africa (www.build-africa.org) - we hope, with your help, to reach a target of £50,000 to achieve this goal.
The ‘Build a School’ Programme supports schools that currently teach classes in the open air without furniture or learning materials and little parental support and interaction. IMG Media, with Build Africa’s guidance is aiming to help transform a “school” by building classrooms and sanitation facilities, as well as providing water supplies, desks, textbooks and solar power. And it’s not just the building of the school, from the funds raised, the programme will help parents and teachers form effective committees to take responsibility for the maintenance and development of their school to help safeguard the long term sustainability of the project.
There will be a large group participating in the 26.2 mile New York Marathon on 7th November 2010 comprising members of the IMG Media team together with seven of our equally plucky friends, representing a range of nationalities from four different continents.
There will also be people running a half marathon (Run 2 the Beat) in London and Jo Harris competing in an 8 hour team Rat Race (9 to 5). Both of these events take place on 26th September 2010.
Please give as much as you can and remember to use the gift aid if you’re a UK tax payer - it means 25% more funds for the charity. We have been given permission to sell the naming rights to the school/classrooms and sports facilities so excluding any controversial brands, we’d welcome your support in exchange for putting your name against this tremendously worthwhile project!
