Story

The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted is a fantastic small charity that does wonderful work, looking after patients and their families during the most difficult of times. They need to raise £4.7million each year and only 20% comes from the NHS – the rest has to come from fundraising.  So I want to do something to help them, in memory of our friend Paul Shyvers, who lost his brave battle with cancer last year.

Paul loved spending time with his family and friends and viewed life as a great adventure.  So towards the end of August this year (tides and weather permitting), I will be setting off on a crazy adventure, joining 3 friends in attempting to kayak around the Isle of Wight.

We have spent the last few months training in all weathers, but as I get closer to the start I'm realising just how far 100km is!!  The plan is to circumnavigate the IoW in 3 days, but that really depends on good weather.

And this is where you come in! This is a big undertaking – and I want to raise as much money as I can towards supporting this great cause. So please dig deep and donate whatever you can – it really will make a huge difference, and will keep us going during the many hours of painful paddling that lie ahead (and that’s just on day 1!).

You can keep up with our progress on our Facebook page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
