Story
We are pleased to announce that we are once
again organising a ‘festival of chariots,’ better known as Jagannatha Ratha
Yatra. This event is celebrated annually
not only in the UK but all over the world.
Sunday 25th July 2010 (starting at 11am) will be our 10th Anniversary celebration of this event in the heart
of Birmingham’s city centre.
Like the thousands of people who attended this festival last year, we are sure you will agree that not only is this festival a great day out for your friends and family, it also has deep spiritual value that will uplift your spirits. Some of the attractions include:
A carnival procession, accompanied by ecstatic bhajans and kirtan (Vedic hymns with traditional and modern instruments), A free, healthy and delicious vegetarian feast Entertaining plays, Bharat Natyam (classical Indian dancing), philosophical talks on the teachings of Lord Chaitanya and Srila Prabhu
A popular questions and answers tent, Mini shops and exhibits as well as displays.
Many important dignitaries, such as the Lord Mayor, Indian High commissioner, Swamis, and leaders from other Hindu temples and other faiths attend this joyous festival. An annual spiritual and cultural landmark for the devotee community in Birmingham, this festival attracts the attention of over ten thousand spectators, and over 6,000 plates of Jagannatha prasadam are distributed. It is a showcase of Vedic spirituality and culture for both Asian and Western guests, where they can find out and experience Sanatana Dharma in an inviting and uplifting way.
This year for the 10th Anniversary we are making the best arrangements possible. As you can see from our leaflet, there will be a great variety of spiritual activities for all the family. This spiritually uplifting occasion does, however, require your support, through adequate funding. We are therefore humbly requesting your help, blessings and donation towards this festival.
This year the Birmingham Rathayatra budget is expected to come to £15,000 (a breakdown of these costs can be supplied on request). Please try to support this festival for Lord Jagannatha as without your help it would not be possible. We look forward to having your support and seeing you on the day!

P.S
Sat 24th - we are having our street festival at Victoria Sq, Bham City Centre.
Sun 25th - we are having the Rathayatra Procession at the same venue.
So we are actually having a 2 day festival - Please note: Main day on Sun 25th July
