Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Liz , the wife of Nigel Shoosmith, of Ian Williams' IT Dept, was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2009. After surgery to remove tumours from a breast and from lymph nodes, Liz had bone and CT scans from which we discovered that the cancer had already spread to her lower back and liver. These two cancers are incurable, but can be contained or even halted by various therapies. Liz is currently undergoing hormone therapy.
As can be imagined, the discovery of Liz's cancer had a devastating effect on herself and her family: husband Nigel and daughters Katie and Emma. In these circumstances help and support from an organisation such as Positive Action on Cancer is vital to help families to cope with the disease.
After the recent fundraising cycle ride by Nigel Shoosmith in aid of Positive Action on Cancer, some of this year's Ian Williams Three Peaks Challenge team decided to help raise even more funds by doing a hill trek up Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak on the Brecon Beacons, on Sunday 29th November 2009.
We appreciate that so many members of Head Office staff have already given generously to PAC through Nigel's cycle ride and other events held at Head Office, so we hope that others throughout the Ian Williams organisation will add their help to ensure the survival of this vital local charity.
Thank you.
