In January this year one of our dearest friends, Lisa, lost her 3 year battle with cancer. Lisa was just 29 years old at the time and was supported by the frankly incredible Katherine House Hospice in Oxfordshire.

Katherine House is staffed by volunteers and the comfort, care, love and dignity they provided to Lisa was breath taking, not to mention the invaluable support they showed for us, Lisa’s friends, and most importantly her family.

Katherine House relies on donations to offer the support they give, and to show our appreciation a group of Lisa’s friends will be raising money for them by running the Hackney half marathon on the 10^th May.

As Lisa’s old stomping ground Hackney is the ideal choice of event and on the morning of the 10th 15 of us will be lining up to do her proud.  

Additionally during April and June I will be taking part in 2 other events, the London Marathon and the Staffordshire half ironman. This means in total over the 3 months I will be swimming 1.2 miles, cycling 56 miles and running 52.4 miles.

Now as many of you know there is a strong chance I would have taken part in some of these events regardless as I just really enjoy them. That is definitely not true for many of the other runners who, by their own admission, view exercise as wasted potential drinking time.
