I did it in 3h 22m. It was a beautiful sunny day and the atmosphere was great. The support and encouragement from the crowds really spurred me on. I struggled for the last third but managed to keep going without walking, so am pleased about that.

I ran the London Marathon 2012 in aid of the NCT who support parents with practical and emotional support. They offer impartial information about birth, feeding and life as a family, without commercial interests. They introduce new parents to a network of local parents to gain support, company and friendship and campaign as the voice for parents on the issues they care about.

My wife Hannah is training with them to become a breastfeeding counsellor. This is my first marathon run and represents a big challenge.

To give an idea of what your donation might pay for:

£25 pays for an hour of expert NCT practitioner support for a new parent in need
£40 provides a new parent under stress with six weeks of support from a trained NCT postnatal leader.
£93 subsidises a postnatal Early Days course for a young parent or family on a low income.
