Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please give generously, it's all for a good cause.
I'm running to raise as much money as possible for Grace House.
The Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal is raising funds to build, equip and run a hospice for children across the North East.

Race for Grace! In theory, running 5km should have been a breeze after running the 20+km the week before... but with a few lingering aches and pains from the GNR (and a hangover)... it seemed a lot harder than it should have been! it didn't help that they changed the course (AGAIN) and added more uphill sections!
Still... i managed to shave more than 2 mins of last years time! :)
20th September 2009
Well... i made it! i aimed for 2hrs 30mins and just missed by a minute :(
Official time 2:31:00, and i finished a vaguely respectable 28,110th!
Many thanks to everyone who has supported me and sponsored me.
Special thanks to the Grace House organisers who had the foresight to organise a masseuse for their runners at the finish line... i doubt i could have walked back to the car without it!
I'm just waiting to regain the feeling in my legs so I can get some training in for the Race for Grace on Sunday 27th September... only 5k this time...dead easy!
Will I do it again next year? Jury is still out!
15th September 2009
5 days to go and the reality is starting to sink in... the GNR signs are going up in and around South Shields and the knots in my stomach are getting tighter...
Training has been going "ok"... I've spent most of the last fortnight on the Physio's table getting treatment for something with a long Latin name (Plantar fasciitis) that basically means "sore foot"... I've had a few sessions of massage and acupuncture and things are feeling better... so I may actually have to do this run after all!
I've been back on the treadmill in the last few days and done some road training and am feeling vaguely confident that I might actually be able to finish this run... just!
I'm just imagining a cold pint of lager at the finish line...
1st August 2009
I've just been coerced into doing the Great North Run 2 months before its run to take place!!!
I only started training on the 27th July (and I’m hardly a natural athlete)... so I have only a few weeks to turn this couch potato into something vaguely capable of running (or walking) 13 miles!
I've accepted the fact I’m not going to win the race... my aim is to finish the same day that I start!
I'll also be doing the Race for Grace which is the week after the Great North Run (assuming I survive). So this sponsorship will be a joint one for both events.
If you can spare some cash, please do, let’s face it I need all the help and support I can get!
Thanks again :)
Ian
