Hi,
My name is Ian Chilvers. I am fundraising on behalf of the St Andrews Hospice in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.
http://www.standrewshospice.com/
I have chosen this charity as in June 2008 my Nanna, Olive Wade (formely Olive Day) and maiden name, Olive Dixon passed away. Olive received expert care in a homely environment by wonderfully caring staff. Last year I raised money for the hospice and am continuing my efforts this year. I hope I can welcome new sponsors this year as well as counting on the support of last year's sponsors.
I am competing in Triatholons and Running Events in order to raise money this year for the hospice. For those of you that don't know, Triatholon involves swimming, cycling and running. I am taking part in Olympic distant events which consist of 1 mile swim, 25 mile cycle ride and 6 mile run. The swim is usually carried out in a lake and requires a wetsuit, upon completion there is a stagger to the transition point (whilst trying to remove wetsuit) to pick the bike up. Cycling consits of eating bannanas and drinking lots of water and avoiding loo breaks and of course some pedalling! When cycling is complete its back to the transition point to drop off bike, change cycling shoes for running shoes (a task in itself) and plod off on run. The hardest part is starting the run as legs feel like lead, at this point its just best to think of beer at end ! Upon run completion its a big tidy up, with of course stronger thoughts of a refreshing beer!
This summer I am taking part in the following events:
21st June 2009: Liverpool Triatholon
16th August 2009: Allerthorpe (York) Triatholon
20th September 2009: Tatton Park Triatholon
04th October 2009: Warrington Half Marathon
I hope St Andrews Hospice can count on your support!
Thanks
Ian
