Tower 2 Tower Challenge · 23 August 2009

Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity, supporting young lives from birth to 18. Our mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across Lancashire who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.

Story

Hi

Tom and I have agreed to take part in a charity cycle ride from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower, a total of some 460 miles!  All being well we should complete it in six days starting on the 22nd August 2009.  The event is organised by our friends at Rock FM to raise money for the Children's Society in Lancashire who provide care and support to the most vulnerable disadvantaged children in our region.  Tragically, kids as young as seven are sleeping rough in your town......hard to believe in a so called 'civilised society'.  With our help the Children's Society can make a difference to vulnerable children who need and deserve a better life.

With your assistance we can raise awareness of the plight of children in our area and provide the funding to continue the great work already being done.  Please help to give these kids a childhood......it's the very least we can do.

As my last bike was a 'Grifter' (they were great for doing wheelies in second gear) you will have guessed that this bike ride is going to be something of a personal challenge!  We've started training but have some work to do yet!  We'd like to add a special thanks to Lancashire cycle specialists 'Ride-On' from Rawtenstall (www.rideon.co.uk) who have kindly agreed to provide Tom and I with bikes for the event.....without their help I'd be sorting through the garage looking for that 'Grifter'!
